I received an email last week asking whether or not I knew of where one could buy a ladies Central European style fancy dress costume in the UK, for an upcoming Czech and Slovak fancy dress party.
Now short of buying a Czech or Slovak national dress costume (or Kroj) which can be expensive, I was at a loss as to where to find something that was truly in keeping with the Czech and Slovak traditions.
However, I know from experience that fancy dress is sometimes about thinking outside the box and although I was unable to find some truly authentic Slavic costumes, I was able to find some great Central European fancy dress outfits nonetheless.
Below are three examples of Central European costumes, the third of which was ultimately the one chosen to wear to the party.
1pc Sexy Wench
This sexy wench dress makes a perfect Central European fancy dress costume. It consists of a one-piece garment with a lace up bodice.
The neckline of these Central European fancy dress outfits is trimmed with elastic and the fabric is made with spandex, thus giving a great fit. It also includes a petticoat to give greater volume and movement to the wonderful little mini-skirt.

Beer Girl Costume
The Beer Girl Costume is a Bavarian-style outfit that also makes a really good Central European fancy dress costume.
This particular Central European style fancy dress consists of a puffed sleeved dress with an attached blue apron.

Sexy Milk Maiden
This really cute one-piece outfit is probably the closest to a Czech or Slovak fancy dress costume.
It is made from a man-made fabric with a flock finish in assorted colours, which is trimmed with a delightful woven flower braid.
The back of the Central European fancy dress outfit is made of a stretch material thus ensuring a snug fit.
