There are alternatives to buying a fancy dress outfit for that upcoming party, one of which is to have a go at making one yourself. Of course, this is not something that everyone can do, but if you do have a talent for sewing then you are certainly going to need to get yourself a decent pattern to work from.
Sew Iconic is a new book that is basically a step-by-step guide to sewing ten famous dresses that have appeared in Hollywood movies. Not only that, it also acts as a great reference for those of you that are wanting to improve their sewing technique.
It includes dresses such as Marilyn Monroe’s white subway dress, made famous in “The Seven Year Itch”, and Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
The book lists the dresses in order of difficulty, beginning with the polka dot dress made famous by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. As well as the dress pattern itself, there is also useful information about how to go about achieving the same look as the actress, including advice on accessories and makeup.
